Wonnangatta 7 days/6 nights
Day 1 - Departing from Eight Mile Gap, we head out on our trusty steeds with the majestic Bluff overhead. We wind our way up the mountainous tracks through the beautiful alpine flora until we arrive at Bluff Hut where lunch awaits us. We relax and take a moment to take in the spectacular views before remounting and heading past Mt Lovick on to Lovick's Hut, where will camp for the evening enjoying the tranquility of the bush
Day 2 - The next day we mount up and head off and it's not long before the whole range opens up before us and we can see the magnificent Mt Magdala. As we follow the contour track around the side of Magdala your adrenaline rises and we take in the breathtaking views. Now its time to stop and enjoy our lunch amongst the gums just below the summit of Mt Howitt. Now we are headed for Gantner Hut at the beautiful McAllister Springs. Time for a toilet stop at a very unusual toilet with the best views in the alps! On wards across the Howitt High Plains to our camp for the evening at Howitt Hut and hope the legendary ghost of Harry Bamford doesn't pay us a visit! On arrival the camp fire is inviting, the drinks are on ice and the pre-dinner nibbles are waiting.
Day 3 - After a bush breakfast, we are Wonnangatta bound and I'm sure you will feel a chill run down your spine as the bush gives way to the valley and we ride into the huge open grass land of Wonnangatta Station.
Day 4 - Lay Day, a chance for both horse and rider to re-energize and a great opportunity to explore mysteries of the Wonnangatta valley. Fossick around the old grave yard and the old homestead site or take a walk along the river and enjoy a dip in one of the many rock pools.
Day 5 - After our relaxing break in the valley we say good bye to Wonnangatta Station for we are homeward bound. We make our way back to Buffalo River for a restful evening and a last chance to swap ghost stories around the camp fire.
Day 6 - After a good night's rest back on our horses as we make our way through the meandering river flats and on through Catherine Station to our final camp on the River. Here we can relax, take a dip in the cooling waters or maybe even throw a line in. If we're luck, fish might be on the menu!
Day 7 - After breakfast we ride out on the last day of our adventure. Our destination, the beautiful Rose River and the end of our adventure. From here we truck the horses and bus the riders home .
