the historic Ritchie’s Hut, a great example of the cattleman’s huts of yester year. After a spell to take a look around the hut, it’s back on our horses as we make our way to our camp for the evening at Seven Mile and enjoy the tranquility of the bush while listening to the peaceful waters of the river, where our supply vehicle already has the campfire roaring. After a hearty meal, we settle down to relax around the fire and enjoy the evening. |
Day 2 On Sunday morning, after breakfast we ride out, following the river with numerous crossings and plenty of opportunity to jump suitable logs for those capable. We visit Tunnel Bend, a piece of history from the Chinese involvement in mining gold in the Howqua Valley before meeting up with the supply vehicle for lunch at Pickerings. After lunch, still following the river, we ride over to take a look at historic Frye’s Hut before returning to Sheepyard Flat our start and end point for this magnificent weekends ride.
