New Year's Eve - Razorback Rage

riverDeparting from Mirimbah, we head out on our trusty steeds, up the Delatite River, popular amongst trout fisherman, crossing the river 15 times, providing some cooling relief on a hot summer's day. We travel amongst the towering Mountain ash and luscious tree ferns then making our way up the river spur through the Alpine Ash to the gnar led Snow Gums and alpine meadows on the summit of Mt Stirling before making our way to our camp at Razorback.

JessieNext day we head off for lunch at the infamous Craig's Hut where once again we take in the breathtaking views before heading off down into the King Valley where we camp the horses overnight while we return to Razorback Hut to see the New Year in.

New Year's Day we take a ride down to Pineapple Flat to enjoy a lazy lunch and a dip in the refreshing waterhole before heading back to camp for the night. Last day we ride home to Merrijig via Mt Number 3 and Burnt Hut Spur with a relaxing lunch stop along the way.

That evening we setup camp at the King River Hut where you can throw your line into the Upper King and try your luck at catching one of the many trout that abound in this part of the country. Next day we follow the King River down to Pineapple Flat where we stop for lunch and take the opportunity to cool off in the tranquil waterhole before beginning the trek back up to Razorback Hut via Mine Creek for our last nights camp. Our final day sees us riding out to Mt Number 3 over the rugged ridgeline of Razorback past the Pinnacle and Mt Number 3 refuge hut. From here we descend from the Snow Gums down through the Wooly Butts along Burnt Hut Spur to the fern gullies where we stop for a well-earned lunch break.
